I’ve lived in Primiero my whole life, I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else, or at least not somewhere without mountains.
When I was 6 years old, my father bought two goats, Clara and Furiex. I immediately became passionate about animals andstarted exploring the woods to take them to pasture. Then, at 11, I began going to the mountain pasture for the summer – no TV, electricity only during milking from a generator, and hot water on a trickle. I worked 14 seasons as a shepherd, and that’s how I started discovering the mountains at higher altitudes, andthanks to the training from running after the animalsto take them to pasture, I realized around the age of 20 that I was particularly suited to running up and down mountains. By chance, I found a brochure for a race that crossed thePale di San Martino, the Grande Raid!I did well immediately, and in subsequent years, I even went on towin the Italian Skymarathon title.
As I grew up, I started working in a sawmill, but it didn't satisfy me. I would look at the mountains from inside the shed, imagining being up there in the pastures and among the rocks.I started paragliding; after a few years, I managed to turn it into a job, taking people on tandem flights, which perfectly complementsmy work as a ski instructorthat I already did in winter.
Today, I experience the mountains every day, both for work and by practicing various sports:ski mountaineering, cycling, and hike & fly, depending on the weather and seasons.
I also started competing in hike&fly, winning the“Italian League” for 3 consecutive years and joining the AKU hike&fly team.
