Every pair of AKU shoes is the result of a process that combines craftsmanship, technical expertise and innovation. From the design phase to product development, from pattern-making to production on the assembly line with all the stages of manual assembly: it is a process that preserves Montebelluna’s shoemaking tradition whilst looking to the future. To illustrate this journey, we welcomed Matteo Peroni – YouTuber, content creator, our ambassador and product tester – to our factory. He spent a day behind the scenes to learn how AKU footwear is produced and to strengthen our collaboration, which is based on a shared passion for the mountains, experienced with respect and responsibility. The invitation to visit the factory stemmed from a desire to showcase the heart of AKU’s work: a production process that combines artisanal expertise with technical research. A central role is played by the last, the true genetic code of the shoe. The original AKU last is the template from which, with specific adaptations, all types of footwear for different models and functions are created: the key and the secret to the comfort recognised worldwide. The tour focused on Matteo’s favourite model, the Croda DFS GTX, a Made in Italy boot designed for mountaineering and the most demanding treks. Lightweight, agile and precise, it combines innovative materials such as a Kevlar upper and a Vibram Croda Litebase sole with exclusive AKU features, such as the Dual Fit System, which allows you to adjust the fit for walking or climbing, and the Elica System for a walking experience that respects the anatomy of the foot. An experience that confirms AKU’s desire to tell its story through its products and alongside people who experience the mountains with the same genuine passion that guides every choice we make.
