This is why, for AKU, joining the SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) was a natural, almost obvious evolution. SBTi asks companies to set a base year, define an emissions reduction target, and then achieve it by a target year. No vague statements, just numbers. Just the way we like it.
In June 2025, AKU was officially validated by SBTi.
This means that our reduction plan has been approved and that our path towards decarbonization has, to all intents and purposes, begun.
A long, challenging, but necessary journey. Above all, in line with the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit the increase in global temperature to within 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels.
“AKU commits to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 58.8% by 2034, compared to the 2022 base year, and to measure and reduce its Scope 3 emissions.”
How do we do it?
• By calculating our base year emissions
• By implementing the action plan for emissions reduction in the foreseen categories
• By annually calculating company emissions and thus evaluating whether this action plan is effective.
We will not wait until 2034 to tell you how it went.
Every year, we will calculate and certify our emissions with a third-party body, according to ISO 14064, and share the results, positive or negative, in our annual Responsibility Report.
AKU once again confirms its responsible commitment to the environment, with a scientifically based reduction program and transparent communication.
We continue our journey with enthusiasm, determination, and confidence in change, reaffirming the principle of responsible action as a guiding principle and central value of our business project.
