ALEX PIAZZALUNGA

Mountaineer & Climber

Since I was a child I spent a lot of time in the mountains, with my family we had a house in a little-known valley in the Bergamo area. I admired the modest peaks that surrounded me and dreamed of being able to climb them, of accessing that world. Everyone remembers how much I bothered to be accompanied along the paths towards the peaks.
My first climbs began, my first adventures, my first contacts with this environment which I realize has totally captured my life. The curiosity to see higher peaks and try more difficult climbs grew inside me. I started climbing and the mountains became rock paths. On the wall I could savor the environment around me even more, hanging there I felt in harmony with what surrounded me!
As a good native I also started doing winter activities. The mountains of the Bergamo area offer many adventure terrains and days full of fatigue between eternal approaches and few support points.

Thanks to a job offer I moved to one of the most beautiful mountain environments in the world: the Dolomites. Together with motivated companions and friends I begin to climb these wonderful mountains: Marmolada, Vallaccia, Catinaccio and I continue to climb them.

I love technical climbing, difficult routes that don't have an obvious outcome and above all I love the magic of winter and the ice structures that this season creates thanks to the cold and water. The passion for the mountains at home is such that I find it difficult to leave for distant places, I think that climbing here is the most sustainable and satisfying way to experience my mountaineering. Thanks to this discipline I learned respect for nature, for people and the importance of small things. Lesson that I try to bring back to my everyday life from the peaks.
