AKU is able to precisely define the quantity of CO2 emitted for the production and distribution of each model.
Calculating the CO2 emissions level of a shoe is a long, complex and very expensive process.
Analyzing this process is a necessary prerequisite for understanding the true environmental impact of the finished product and for defining an appropriate response strategy.
It is on the basis of these simple but fundamental considerations that AKU has decided to undertake, as the first in the outdoor footwear sector, a project to certify the carbon dioxide emissions of its models.
The aim of the initiative was to take a deeper look inside ourselves, gain an in-depth understanding of every aspect of our production organization, from design to product end-of-life, and understand how this process impacts the environment, particularly CO2 emissions, the greenhouse gas most responsible for global warming and the resulting climate emergency.
The project, guided by ISO 14067:2018 standards, required the collection of a broad and detailed range of information, aimed at creating a database that now allows AKU to precisely define the amount of CO2 emitted for the production and distribution of each individual model. This commitment to transparency towards the end user and an analysis initiative will allow our company to address critical factors in the production process, working to constantly reduce environmental impact, with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality. In addition, to formalize and make its commitment official, AKU publishes an annual RESPONSIBILITY REPORT that provides an overview of the activities carried out in the areas of product development, industrial operations, and community engagement, in terms of responsible action.
responsibilities
As a company, we are responsible for the development of our production activities, but we are also responsible for their impact on the natural environment and for the way we interact with the entire community, both internal and external to the company itself.
