AKU strengthens its commitment to supporting internationally renowned environmental research through a new and significant collaboration with the OPTICE project – an initiative of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Milan-Bicocca, dedicated to the study of the cryosphere, with a particular focus on snow and ice.
The OPTICE project aims to deepen our understanding of the physical properties of the snowpack and its stability, in relation to the effects of climate change on Alpine and Arctic regions . Research activities are conducted both in the laboratory—at the European Cold Laboratories of the University of Milan Bicocca—and in the field, in extreme environments where data collection requires extensive technical preparation and reliable equipment.
To contribute to the success of the field research campaigns, AKU will supply the HAYATSUKI GTX mountaineering model , developed to guarantee high performance and comfort in the harsh environmental conditions typical of high-altitude scientific missions.
This collaboration is part of the broader environmental responsibility initiatives promoted by AKU , which has supported research and awareness projects related to ecosystem protection for years. One example is participation in the international ICE MEMORY project, conducted with the CNR and the University of Venice, for the preservation of the climate memory preserved in glaciers.
Through technical support and documentation of scientific activities for dissemination purposes, AKU renews its commitment to greater environmental awareness , actively contributing to the construction of a collective responsibility towards the ecosystem.

OPTICE
OPTICE is a multidisciplinary project aimed at studying the optical properties of dust and crystals present in the air and in snow and ice of the Alpine and Arctic regions.
OPTICE was born from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Milan Bicocca and aims to communicate to a broad audience the importance of complex climate systems and their interactions with human activities.

ICE MEMORY
Ice Memory is an international program created with the aim of providing, for decades and centuries to come, archives and data on the history of climate and the environment, fundamental both for science and to inform policies for environmental responsibility. and the well-being of humanity .
